i am new to PLC. i know about programming using ladder logic. i am good in that but i dont know anything about working with AB plc. how to load the program?
how to configure the PLC?
all together i can say i know hw to build up the logic, but dont know how to implement it..

I am assuming you are talking about RSLOGIX 500. This software serves The SLC 500 family, as well as micrologix PLC's, the RSLOGIX 5 is used for PLC 5 systems. It is almost Identical to RSLOGIX 500.
The primary PLC configuration takes place in the I/O configuration. There are also channel configuratios, but those usually don't need to be used in a PLC that doesn't need to communicate with other PLC's or computers. The micrologix generally doesn't need much other than for you to select the processor. For an SLC 500, you will need to configure what cards are in which slots. If you don't, and load the Program to the processor, the processor will fault. Double click the I/O configuration to open the window. If you are connected to the PLC, you can choose read I/O config. If not select the card from the list, and drag it to the appropriate slot. Not sure what the model of module card you have, power down the PLC, remove the card and look on the side. The information may also be found inside the door.

If you can tell me which processor you have, I can tell you how to connect to it.

I have a decent amount of experience with the SLC 500, Micrologix, and the PLC 5. If you have any questions about these, I am happy to help

floating is generally used in analog system...........
e.g temp., pressure etc etc.....
it has to be then converted in 4-20ma
or very rarely taken 0-20ma.......

its better to start with AB ... its more user friendly .... may siemens has more complicated features but it is not as easy as AB both to program n to trouble shoot n understand ...

Hi,
1st: you must know that Rslogix is not a PLC. Rslogix is a software required to program a Allen Bradley PLC.
The difference is: RSLOGIX500 is to program small PLCs like Microllogix1100,SLC500, while RSLOGIX 5000 is to program the smallest PLCs.I advice you to start with SLC500, but remember that the secret to program well any PLC you must undesrtand the structure of that PLC,otherwise it will becomes quite difficult.

I need advice for a specific one that you can recommend.
This is the experiment scenario: There will be a special battery charger that
charges only
Lithium ion batteries (I have that already). There will be two banks or sets
of
batteries. Only one bank can be charged at a time, once the first bank is
fully
charged, then the 'controller' or 'PLC' will switch the battery charger to the
second
bank to charge that one as well. The system that I'm experimenting will drain
each bank one at a time. I want the controller to determined when a bank is
drained then it will switch the battery charger to the second battery bank.
This will happen back and forth. While one is discharged the other is being
charged. The batteries will be 24V DC.

Can you tell me why my plc keeps shutting off my servo on a tree cnc mill, sometimes it will run for days without doing it, and then at times I can reset the servo and it will kick right back off, sometime I can mill an hr or so and just kicks off the servos.
